Great food, great service, great experience all around. The bison burger and lamb burger were both good. They were large, on an artisan bun and came with cheese of your choice (we chose blue cheese). The sweet potato fries were soooo good and came with a yummy dipping sauce. The asparagus has a nice roasted flavor to it. I especially love that a lot of the food is local. The gazpacho was so fresh and delicious. I really liked the atmosphere and exposed brick they had going on. The chandelier is cute too. It was the perfect mix between old charm and new style. Victoria was our sever and she was perfect. Will be back.

Appetizers were descent however they have a lot of work to do in the customer service area. My dad was in from out of town from Baton Rouge, Louisiana which in my opinion has the best southern food ever! So I wanted to take him somewhere that offered local beef and wasn't a chain. My steak wasn't cooked right, the server acted like it a big deal to take it back. Then I even had to ask him to take it off the check when they took forever to bring me another one. Unacceptable! I won't be back.

Delicious Bison Burger! The blue cheese on it made it the best bison burger I've ever had. Perfect combination. Loved the trains going by. We had the table by the window. Perfect time to try out my hyperlapse and the video on Yelp. It's great to know they get all the meat and most of vegetables from local farmers. They display local artists work. Makes the decor nice. I especially like the railroad crossing sign. The server was friendly and did a great job. It only took about 15 minutes to get fresh warm food. Overall experience was great. I gave stars to increase rating because I'm afraid helpers won't stop by if the see a low rating and they really would miss out on a great experience.

Picked this place because of the bad reviews... What, you say...I was reading between the lines of the other reviews We came in between lunch and dinner....so it was not busy...yay. Our sever was very nice and friendly...explained the menu. Most all the meat and veggies are from local farms We had the bison burger...it was huge and delicious I subbed the sweet potato tots for fries...they also were good. . It's not like what others have said, actually many reviews sound like they are from the same person or group that had one bad experience. This is a great little cafe

Invited by a friend from nearby I had the lamb burger it was excellent. One of my friends had the bison burger which was great. Another had the fish and chips which also looked tasty. Neat railroad decor, server was OK because my friend asked for a fish sandwich he said he could not do it because the menu had changed??? For a twelve dollar sandwich I believe they should accommodate they are in the service industry. Overall I was surprised how good it was.

Stopped off on a road trip...very cute train related decor! We had the Cuban with sweet potato tots and a Caesar salad. The tots come with smoked honey... tasty! Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is in the historic district but convenient to the highway. The street is lined with boutiques and cafes if you have time for a stroll.

My mom and I ate lunch here on 11/4/14. It was so good! We started off with the sweet potato tots. Yum! They are served with a tasty smoked honey and were steaming hot. We had to force ourselves from eating the entire generous portion so we would have room for our soup and salad. The salads were absolutely delightful. Fresh veggies and amazing dressings made from scratch. The mushroom soup was good too. The best part of the experience, however, was when they brought the check. Included with it were two cookies and the server informed me it was "Free Cookie Tuesday"! I will definitely go back soon!

Stumbled on this place while looking for something unique and local. Very glad we did. I had one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had and I live in Memphis! The BBQ sauce that was served on the side was a little too sweet but it did make for a very nice contrast with the savoriness of the pork. I gobbled the whole thing down before I realized it! The sweet potato tots were average - needed to be crisper. The smokey honey dipping sauce was WAY yummy but it didn't do anything for the tots, they were already sweet enough. I almost used it on my sandwich. It would be really good with something savory and a little salty. My brother got the Cuban sandwich and the soup of the day - Roasted Red Pepper Bisque. It must have been good because he didn't even offer me a bite. Our server was nice, friendly, and brought many drink refills to the table. The big surprise was the train going by right outside the window!! I didn't give a thought to what train tracks down Main Street might mean. My son and I jumped up to watch the train go by on the street outside. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

I went here with a few friends after doing some wedding dress shopping (not for me...yet!) at Couture Closet next door. Our server was excellent; very nice, informative, and funny. I had the bison burger with blue cheese and the sweet potato tots. It was delicious - the burger was perfectly medium and the tots were great with the smoked honey that comes along with them. The bride-to-be ordered a caesar salad and a cup of clam chowder which she enjoyed. My other friend ordered a fish taco and a pulled pork taco. She wasn't thrilled with the tacos as the guacamole was very, very heavy on them but she said that otherwise they were pretty good. We also ordered a bottle of white wine which was a good compliment to our meal. I would definitely come here again.

Absolutely atrocious, eat at your own risk. First off, the service was horrible. A woman named Ellie was rude and condescending, so much to the point that it was utterly nauseating. I asked her if I could make a small change to one of their dishes and she refused. Her arrogance and rudeness made me want to walk out then and there. Obviously she has not succeed in customer service before. My wife's steak came out twice incorrectly. And when they finally got it right, it tasted bland and not satisfying. Their finest local beef was tough, chewy, and certainly not worth the price. Perhaps I'm holding too high of standards for a mediocre place like this, but I expected more with the 5 star prices for 1 star food and service quality. Will never return.

Try the short ribs, they are amazing, and the Lamb expanadas are fantastic. And as always the crepes were on point!

My son and I tried this place as new transplants to the area. The food is average and the red ale is a Budweiser product, not a Rails special like they claim. The kicker was when the waitress added a n 18% gratuity and asked for a tip on top of that for a party of 2.....here is my tip! support local businesses, just not this one. They are slow, unprofessional, unresponsive to requests and have mediocre food.

Chose to eat lunch here during the Louisville Ironman since a staff member was handing out menus at the athlete viewpoint. Looks like Ironman is a big business day for the small town of LaGrange. Perhaps this restaurant should have taken that staff member off marketing duty and put them on the floor. Our party was split between tables. One table is already finished, but ours is still waiting for our food over an hour hour later. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I can't comment on the food because I haven't eaten. The waitress just served me. She's given me a chicken sandwich as a "consolation prize" since she couldn't come up with my fish sandwich. We also just spoke with the manager who offered no apologies for the bad service. Even with two hungry children who waited patiently at our table, he had no sympathy or regrets. He offered us nothing in the way of compensation. Apparently he is the owner. THIS GUY SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A BUSINESS! He doesn't know anything about staffing or customer service. Just wanted to give a shout out to the servers at this place. They were doing their best despite the adverse circumstances. Our server was very sweet and apologetic. They could obviously benefit from a stronger leader.

VERY good! Best dining experience I've had in Lagrange in a long time. Great fish & chips, great vegetables, great wine, and great service. We will definitely be back! I was initially unsure about eating here based on reading previous reviews, but this place has had an unfair judgement. The prices were a teeny bit higher than the other Lagrange restaurants, but was certainly worth a couple extra bucks. If you really want to waste your money, go to Applebees.

Service was good, I went for lunch with some co-workers. I got the lamb burger, caprese salad and risotto. The lamb burger was great, risotto was bland and the caprese salad had too much balsamic.

Service slow - not properly staffed. Pork chops had no flavor and tough to chew. Shrimp and grits ok - overpriced. Not on my return list. Bar looks good and may try that.

We ate there 8/20. We were recommended their bone in rib eye as well as two pasta dishes. The server came back four times during our 1 hour wait assuring us it would be served shortly. The steak ($33) was ordered medium well and came medium rare. We were never asked if steaks were prepared to our liking. The pastas were so-so and the shrimp & grits had an orange consistency. We told the server about the steaks but were so disgusted after an hour wait, we just chalked our evening as wasted and left.

Found this place looking for something other than an Applebee's on our travels. The hamburger that I ordered was one of the best. Very cool restaurant with the working railroad going through town. Waitress/waiter( Connie, Brennan)was very friendly and explained about the railway tracks.

I ate here again the other day and it is still fantastic. I have a feeling I will become a regular here. The service seems to be improving every time that I go.

This restaurant is overpriced and the food is terrible. For what they served and what you pay, as bad as the food is, you feel like you've been robbed. I was so disappointed. Owner was arrogant and unapologetic.

Really good lunch here today. Great salad, though it initially looked very small, was a surprise. Bison burger very good and large patty of meat. Dessert of chocolate extremely good also. Very good service. I will surely return.

Good food paired with bad service. Five of us visited the restaurant. We were greeted with a waitress that informed us that she had been working all day. She must have been tired. When our food came out, one in our party did not get her food. When the server realized, rather than tell us what happened, she just asked us if we still wanted the order. If we didn't want food, I am not sure why we were there. I was a little blown away by the question. She also offered to share that the chef warned her not to mess up any orders that night, which lead me to believe that this happens often. When we got the food finally, she apologized, but never offered to comp anything on our bill. I personally go out to eat for service. I understand that mistakes happen, but be honest, admit your mistake and offer to comp. I won't be back. Good luck.

Not impressed. This place seemed fancy and was definitely pricey, but my experience was disappointing. Deliberated over the menu for quite some time, as many things sounded delicious. Ordered the ribs, and wouldn't you know it, that was the one thing on the menu they were out of. Soooo, decided on the smoked chicken instead. Received it and it was literally bloody inside. Texture was rubbery; like it wasn't cooked. Told the waitress who said she would get a manager. After about 10 minutes, he came over and I explained the problem. He took the plate away and came back a few minutes later, to tell me that "the chef said that's how smoked chicken always is; bloody". Um, no, I smoke chicken myself and it doesn't come out bloody. He asked if I wanted something else. UM, YEAH! So, I got the bacon wrapped shrimp skewers with grits. Those were good. When the check came, I assumed it would have some sort of compensation on it for the problem, but no, not even a drink comped. And we ordered four mixed drinks that weren't cheap. Not the best impression to give an out-of-towner.

Well its quarter after 8 they serve until 10 its not busy the guy looks at me and says -would you like one for dinner I said yes he says well we're actually shut down I say what don't let me inconvenience you and I walked out ,so it sounds like if there not busy day you might want to find some place other than here 2 hrs Before they close

Mixed messages. I've ate here 3 times and just so-so. The ownership and staff very cordial . Attention to detail lacking especially with meat temp. When you price an entree in 15-30 dollar range you expect perfection. This is not always the case at Rails. We need this restaurant to succeed for the community and for all to enjoy.
